The Adani Group’s Khavda Renewable Energy (RE) Park in Gujarat has captured global attention, with former Danish Ambassador Freddy Svane declaring himself “blown away” by its sheer magnitude and strategic vision. Svane, who toured the world’s largest RE park in November last year alongside EU, Belgian, and German ambassadors, described the visit as an “eye-opener” and a testament to the importance of green transition and international cooperation.

Key Highlights:

Freddy Svane, ex-Danish Ambassador to India, praised the Khavda RE park as a “must for humanity,” emphasizing its role in addressing the global climate crisis and securing a sustainable future for coming generations.

The Khavda RE park, developed by Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), is set to become the world’s largest renewable energy facility, spanning 538 square kilometers of barren land and targeting a total capacity of 30 GW.

AGEL recently operationalized another 50 MW solar power project at Khavda, boosting its total renewable capacity to 14,340.9 MW. So far, about 3.7 GW has been commissioned at the site.

The park is expected to supply clean power to over 16 million homes, significantly contributing to India’s renewable energy goals and reducing carbon emissions.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, hosted the ambassadors and highlighted the importance of global partnerships in accelerating India’s energy transition and hydrogen ecosystem.

AGEL is on track to expand its renewable portfolio to 50 GW by 2030, with ongoing investments in solar, wind, hybrid, and pumped storage projects across 12 Indian states.

The company’s rapid progress is supported by a $3.4 billion revolving construction facility and a strong focus on commercial, industrial, and merchant energy segments.

Svane’s remarks underscore the Khavda RE park’s significance not just for India, but as a beacon for global green energy collaboration and climate action.
