In a significant boost to the textile sector, the government has approved the Tex-RAMPS scheme, a ₹305 crore Central Sector initiative running through FY2025-26 to FY2030-31. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Textiles, this program aims to strengthen research, assessment, monitoring, planning, and startup innovation within the textiles ecosystem.
Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh emphasized that Tex-RAMPS seeks to future-proof the textiles and apparel sector by bridging gaps in research infrastructure, data analytics, and capacity building. The scheme’s focus spans advanced research in smart textiles, sustainability, process efficiency, and emerging technologies.
A flagship feature of Tex-RAMPS is the creation of the Integrated Textiles Statistical System, a real-time data and analytics platform designed to facilitate informed policy decisions and strategic sector monitoring.
The scheme also supports state-level planning, industry-academia collaboration, innovation entrepreneurship, startup incubation, hackathons, and sharing of best practices, fostering an innovation-driven textile industry poised for sustainable global leadership.
