Epiroc AB, the Swedish industrial giant and a global leader in mining and infrastructure equipment, has officially commenced construction of a state-of-the-art production and research & development facility in Nashik, Maharashtra. This strategic expansion marks a significant milestone in Epiroc’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and its growing footprint in the Indian market.
The new facility, sprawling across approximately 175,000 square meters, is designed to serve as a cutting-edge hub for developing and manufacturing underground and surface equipment tailored for mining and construction industries. It will feature dedicated buildings for production and prototyping, a high-tech R&D laboratory, modern office spaces, and an outdoor equipment test track—making it one of the most comprehensive industrial setups in the region.
According to Helena Hedblom, President and CEO of Epiroc, “The new facility in Nashik is a key step in further expanding our presence in the growing and very important Indian market, and it will also support our customers globally.” Her statement underscores Epiroc’s dual focus: strengthening local capabilities while leveraging India’s strategic position to serve global demand.
The facility is expected to begin operations by Q3 of 2026, with phased development continuing over the next few years. This timeline aligns with Epiroc’s broader global strategy to accelerate innovation and sustainability in mining operations through localized manufacturing and R&D excellence.

The Nashik facility is expected to generate approximately 200 new direct jobs, adding to Epiroc’s existing workforce of around 280 in the region. This move will not only boost local employment but also foster skill development in high-tech manufacturing and engineering disciplines.
Epiroc already employs around 1,750 people across India, including a robust and growing R&D team. The company’s recent expansions in Hyderabad—where it inaugurated an enhanced rock drilling tools manufacturing unit and a new innovation center—further demonstrate its commitment to building a strong industrial ecosystem in the country4.
