Telangana High Court has provided interim relief to Brightcom Group Limited and its promoter Suresh Kumar Reddy by staying the recovery of penalty proceedings launched by SEBI. The court order, dated March 17, 2025, is in response to a writ petition against SEBI's February 6 order that levied heavy penalties on the company and its management. The High Court observed an insufficiency of substantive evidence that warrants the quantum of the penalty and suspended its recovery for a period of two weeks. The development brings an interim relief for Brightcom, which has been facing regulatory troubles and suspension from trading since June 2024. The proceedings in the case are next placed on April 1, 2025, as the stakeholders wait to gain clarity about the future of the company.
