In a significant diplomatic gesture, China’s Foreign Ministry has reiterated its willingness to work with India to maintain communication on border demarcation, control, and related issues. The statement comes ahead of a scheduled meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval in Beijing, under the Special Representatives Dialogue mechanism.
China emphasized that both nations have established diplomatic and military communication channels at multiple levels, and expressed readiness to enhance mutual trust through sincere dialogue and integrity-driven engagement. The move is seen as part of efforts to stabilize ties that have been strained since the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes, which marked the deadliest confrontation in decades.
The talks aim to implement the consensus reached by PM Modi and President Xi Jinping during their October 2024 meeting in Russia, where both leaders agreed to improve communication and resolve frontier disputes peacefully.
