In his historic address to the Ghana Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed the democratic richness of India by declaring that India boasts over 2,500 political parties, which drew audible gasps of amazement and applause from Ghanaian MPs.

Democracy as Culture: Modi emphasized that democracy in India is not merely a system but a cultural ethos, quoting the Rig Veda: "Let noble thoughts come to us from all directions."
Political Plurality: He stated, "India has over 2,500 political parties. I say it again, 2,500," which was met with laughter and amazement in the house. He continued to explain that 20 various parties govern various states, showing India's federal diversity.
Linguistic Diversity: India's 22 official languages and a number of dialects were described as the pillars of India's inclusive democratic structure.
Cultural Integration: Modi also stated that India's openness has made India's citizens part of the world, Indians in Ghana have blended "like sugar in tea."
Diplomatic Milestone: The visit was the first ever by an Indian PM to Ghana in more than three decades. Modi was awarded Ghana's highest civilian honor—The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana.
Strategic Partnership: India and Ghana agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Partnership, focusing on trade, education, defence, and digital development.
The address not only honored India's democratic heritage but also boosted its diplomatic image across Africa.
