External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has begun a week-long visit to Europe, engaging with leaders from France, the European Union, and Belgium. Discussions will aim to strengthen bilateral ties and reinforce India’s stance against terrorism, particularly in light of recent events.
1. Strengthening India-France Relations
Jaishankar will visit Paris and Marseille, holding bilateral discussions with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean Noel Barrot.
He will also participate in the Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue, a key diplomatic event in Marseille.
2. India-EU Strategic Partnership
In Brussels, Jaishankar will hold a strategic dialogue with EU High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas.
The visit follows the first-ever EU College of Commissioners’ trip to India in February, marking a new phase in India-EU cooperation.
He will also engage with European Commission leaders, think tanks, and media.
3. Strengthening India-Belgium Ties
Jaishankar will hold bilateral consultations with Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot.
India and Belgium share strong economic partnerships, spanning trade, green energy, technology, pharmaceuticals, and the diamond sector.
He will also interact with members of the Indian community in Belgium.
