DRDO Opens Doors to Future Scientists with 165 Paid Internships Across Missile and Naval Labs

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has announced a nationwide call for applications to its six-month paid internship program for undergraduate and postgraduate students in science and engineering. The initiative spans premier labs including the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) in Hyderabad and the Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL) in Visakhapatnam.

  • Total of 165 internship slots available across disciplines:
  • Electronics, Embedded Systems, VLSI, Instrumentation, Electrical: 58
  • Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Metallurgy, Safety, Ceramic: 75
  • Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Allied Sciences: 8Computer Science, AI, Cybersecurity: 24
  • Interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000, disbursed in two installments.
  • Internship begins August 1, 2025, and includes hands-on exposure to missile systems, AI, robotics, and secure communication technologies.
 
Eligibility and Selection:
 
  • Open to final-year B.E./B.Tech and second-year M.Sc students from AICTE/UGC-recognized institutions.
  • Minimum academic requirement: 60% marks or CGPA of 7.5 (UG) and 75% (PG).
  • Age limit: 25–28 years depending on lab.
  • Selection based on academic merit and interviews (online/offline).
  • Required documents include police verification, NOC from college, and academic transcripts.
 
Application Deadline and Process:
  • DRDL applications close July 14; NSTL deadline is July 20.
  • Applicants must send hard copies to respective lab directors and email scanned forms to designated addresses.
