Bengaluru will be the center of Indo-Italian innovation with the establishment of a first-of-its-kind Indo-Italian bilateral Innovation Hub. The Hub is being established by the Consulate General of Italy in Bengaluru and the Department of IT/BT, Karnataka with the objective of fostering vast technological and academic collaboration, accelerating startups, and encouraging research collaborations between the two nations.
 
Key Highlights
Bilateral Vision: The Innovation Hub is the natural outcome of the Indo-Italian Joint Strategic Action Plan (2025–2029) and reflects the shared determination of the two governments to enhance cooperation in the areas of science, technology, and enterprise.
 
Acceleration of Startups: The Hub would be a launchpad for startups to access global markets, mentorship, and cross-border capital.
 
Academic & Research Cooperation: Artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, biotechnology, and digitalization are the focus areas with collaborative research and academic exchange at the center.
 
Industry 4.0 & Future Tech: The program will kickstart innovation across industries such as aerospace, smart cities, clean energy, space, defence, and advanced manufacturing, riding on Bengaluru's brand as India's tech capital.
 
Global Ecosystem: The Hub will consolidate startups, corporates, academia, VCs, and accelerators and provide a common ecosystem for enterprise and innovation.
 
Government Support: Government support from the Karnataka government guarantees state-of-the-art infrastructure and access to the city's wider innovation ecosystem, reaffirming Bengaluru's place on the world technology map.
 
Joint Financing and Mobility: Both countries have made a commitment to joint financing of research mobility and joint collaboration, with over 150 joint collaborative projects already completed under the Executive Programme of Cooperation.
 
Cultural & Business Exchange: The Hub will also be home to business forums, B2B meetings, and cultural exchanges, deepening Indian-Italian industry and community relations.
 
This visionary center will usher in a new era of technological advances, jobs, and global partnerships, solidifying Bengaluru's position as the 'Silicon Valley of India' and a global innovation hub.
