The Rural Development Ministry's tableau at India's 76th Republic Day parade was a great display of women's economic empowerment. The Lakhpati Didi scheme was portrayed as transformative, with a towering statue of a Lakhpati Didi holding money to symbolize financial self-sufficiency. Scenes of women engaged in weaving, handicrafts, and agriculture were portrayed to highlight the impact of the scheme on rural entrepreneurship. Already, over 1.15 crore women SHG members have been enabled to become 'Lakhpati Didis' with household incomes crossing the Rs 1 lakh mark per annum.
