In a significant move ahead of the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, the state government distributed appointment letters to 21,391 newly recruited police personnel at a grand ceremony in Patna. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers and senior officials, presided over the event, marking a major step in strengthening the state's law and order apparatus.

21,391 new police recruits received appointment letters, including 11,178 women and 10,205 men, making this one of the largest police recruitment drives in the state's history.
 
Bihar now boasts the highest number of women in uniform among all Indian states, with women constituting 28.5% of the police force and their total strength reaching 36,000.
 
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, recalling the 35% reservation for women in police recruitment introduced in 2013.
 
Nitish Kumar announced plans to further expand the police force, instructing the DGP to expedite the recruitment of 55,000 additional personnel, aiming to raise the total police strength to 2.29 lakh.
 
Recruitment processes for another 19,838 personnel and 10,000 new posts are already underway, with a special drive to hire 4,360 drivers for the police force.
 
The newly appointed constables took an oath to uphold the law, including supporting the enforcement of Bihar's liquor prohibition law.
 
The government highlighted its commitment to providing employment opportunities to the youth and improving law and order across the state.
 
Senior ministers praised the transformation in police recruitment and employment generation under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, calling it a beacon of hope for Bihar’s youth.
