Norwegian energy giant Equinor ASA is actively deepening its engagement with India through multiple strategic initiatives. The company is in discussions to participate in India's Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), aiming to bolster the country’s energy security amidst global supply uncertainties. This move aligns with India's goal of diversifying its energy sources.
Equinor is also working on securing long-term LNG supply agreements with Indian players to meet the country’s growing natural gas demand. The company has already signed a 15-year LNG supply deal with Deepak Fertilisers, starting in 2026, and plans to increase LNG volumes directed toward the Asia-Pacific region.
These efforts highlight Equinor’s commitment to strengthening its footprint in India, one of the world’s largest energy consumers. The collaborations will not only enhance India’s energy security but also expand Equinor's presence in the dynamic Indian market.
