The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised all Indian nationals in Tehran to relocate to safer areas as tensions between Israel and Iran continue to escalate. The advisory follows a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites, prompting concerns over civilian safety.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran has already facilitated the relocation of Indian students to Qom, a city considered safer amid the ongoing conflict. Over 1,500 students, mostly from Jammu and Kashmir, are currently stranded in Iran, with efforts underway to move them out of high-risk zones.
The embassy has urged all Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to share their location and contact details immediately. A 24x7 control room has been set up in New Delhi, and emergency helplines have been activated to assist those seeking evacuation.
Meanwhile, Iran has opened its land borders for foreign nationals looking to exit the country, though its airspace remains closed. India is coordinating with Armenian authorities to facilitate safe passage for those crossing into Armenia.
The situation remains fluid, with daily aerial strikes reported in Tehran. The Indian government continues to monitor developments closely, urging citizens to limit movement and stay in touch with the embassy for further updates.
