In a historic moment for Indian athletics, 22-year-old Animesh Kujur has become the fastest man in India, clocking a blistering 10.18 seconds in the men’s 100m sprint at the Dromia International Sprint and Relays Meeting in Vari, Greece. With this performance, Kujur shattered the previous national record of 10.20 seconds and became the first Indian ever to run the 100m in under 10.20 seconds.

A Sprint into History
  • Animesh’s 10.18-second dash came in Final B of the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Label meet.
  • He outpaced Greece’s Sotirios Garagganis (10.23s) and Finland’s Samuli Samuelsson (10.28s), finishing third overall behind South Africa’s Benjamin Richardson (10.01s) and Oman’s Ali Anwar Al-Balushi (10.12s).
  • The previous Indian record of 10.20s was set by Gurindervir Singh in March 2025 at the Indian Grand Prix.
Double Record Holder
  • Kujur now holds both the 100m and 200m national records.
  • He clocked 20.32 seconds in the 200m at the Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea earlier this year.
  • He was also part of India’s record-setting 4x100m relay team that clocked 38.69 seconds at the National Relay Carnival in Chandigarh.
A Star on the Rise
Kujur’s journey from Odisha to the global sprinting stage is being hailed as a breakthrough for Indian track and field. His consistent improvement and fearless performances in international meets have earned him comparisons to global sprinting greats.

“This is just the beginning. I want to keep pushing the limits and bring more glory to India,” Kujur said after the race.

Tata Steel has entered into a strategic partnership with Australia’s InQuik Group to introduce modular bridge construction technology to India, marking a significant leap in the country’s infrastructure development landscape. The collaboration aims to deliver rapid, cost-effective, and climate-resilient bridges that can transform connectivity in remote and underserved regions. Strategic Collaboration Overview The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Tata Steel and InQuik sets the stage for a new era of smart construction. By combining Tata Steel’s industrial scale and engineering expertise with InQuik’s patented modular bridge systems, the partnership will offer a scalable solution to India’s growing infrastructure demands. Key highlights of the partnership: - Tata Steel will integrate InQuik’s modular bridge technology into its infrastructure solutions portfolio - The technology enables rapid deployment of reinforced concrete bridges using prefabricated steel formwork - Bridges are designed for durability, with a lifespan of up to 100–150 years - The system reduces construction time, environmental impact, and logistical complexity Technology and Impact InQuik’s system involves pre-engineered steel components that are transported to the site and filled with concrete, eliminating the need for extensive on-site fabrication. This approach enhances safety, reduces costs, and accelerates project timelines—especially critical in disaster-prone or remote areas. The bridges are engineered to meet Indian and international standards, ensuring resilience against floods, seismic activity, and heavy traffic. The modular design also allows for easy scalability and customization based on regional needs. Vision and Future Outlook Tata Steel’s leadership emphasized that this partnership aligns with its broader vision of delivering sustainable and technology-driven construction solutions. The initiative supports India’s national goals of improving rural connectivity, reducing isolation, and fostering inclusive development. InQuik, on its part, views the collaboration as a milestone in its global expansion, with India poised to become a key market for its innovative infrastructure systems.
