Mission in Motion:
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made it clear once again that the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is far from a ritualistic exercise—it's a nation-wide science movement to empower Indian farmers. Speaking at the Indian Institute of Vegetable Research in Varanasi, he made it clear that the campaign is solution-oriented, not ritual-based.
Core Focus Areas:
Encouraging genome editing, seed treatment, and natural cultivation to improve vegetable productivity
The war against fake fertilizers, low-quality seeds, and toxic pesticides through tighter control
Improving shelf life of harvested produce such as tomatoes and creating export-quality crop varieties
Encouraging farmer-led innovation and local-level research
Ground-Level Impact:
The campaign has reached 1.5 crore farmers in more than 700 districts
2,170 expert teams of ICAR scientists and KVK scientists are conducting field visits and Kisan Chaupals
Focusing on "Lab to Land" ensures research is framed to address local agro-climatic requirements
Forward-Looking Vision:
Soil Health Card integration and ecologically safe crop choice
Enlarging allied sectors like horticulture, fisheries, and animal husbandry
Develop stronger central, state, and grassroots institutional coordination
Why it matters: This drive is the cornerstone of India's farm revolution and fits into the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. It's not just about growth in yields—it's about giving farmers knowledge, resources, and trust.
