In a huge boost to India's renewable energy plan, ACEN and UPC Renewables have announced the commencement of development of more than 500 MW of clean energy projects in Karnataka and Rajasthan. This joint venture is a giant step towards driving India rapidly towards a greener tomorrow.

  • Overall capacity: 540 MW (420 MW of solar in Rajasthan, 120 MW wind in Karnataka).

  • Yearly total output: 1,158 GWh — enough to power around 241,000 homes per year.
  • Estimated avoided carbon emissions: 876,000 tonnes annually.
Regional Impact
  • Rajasthan's Barmer region to be equipped with the high-irradiance solar farm (767 GWh/year).
  • Karnataka's wind farm will harvest vigorous monsoon winds for 391 GWh/year.

  • Over 1,500 green jobs will be created during construction, which will spur local economies.
