Godrej Industries Ltd has announced a major expansion in its chemicals business, committing ₹750 crore to increase its primary surfactants manufacturing capacity by 30,000 tons per annum (TPA). The move is aimed at meeting rising demand across home care, personal care, and industrial applications, while reinforcing the company’s position as a leader in green chemistry.
The investment will be deployed across Godrej’s existing facilities in Maharashtra and Goa, with a focus on scaling production of Alpha Olefin Sulphonate (AOS), Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), and Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate (SLES)—key ingredients in detergents, shampoos, and cosmetics. The expansion aligns with Godrej’s strategy to deepen its footprint in specialty chemicals and support global FMCG clients with sustainable, high-performance ingredients.
This announcement follows Godrej’s recent acquisition of Savannah Surfactants’ food additives business, adding 5,200 TPA of capacity in Goa and expanding its reach into the food and beverage sector. The company’s chemicals division has seen robust growth, with Q3FY25 revenue up 34.4% YoY to ₹4,824.8 crore and EBITDA margins improving to 12.4%.
