Gujarat’s mango industry has achieved a major milestone, exporting over 3,000 metric tonnes of mangoes in the past five years. The Kesar variety, known for its saffron hue and rich aroma, continues to dominate international demand, especially in markets like the US and South Africa.
Key Highlights From The Export Surge

In FY25 alone, Gujarat exported 856 metric tonnes of mangoes, contributing nearly 29 percent of the fiveyear total.

Mango cultivation spans 1.77 lakh hectares, accounting for 37 percent of the state’s fruitgrowing area. Valsad leads with 38,000 hectares under mango farming.

The Gujarat Agro Radiation Processing Facility in Bavla processed 224 metric tonnes of irradiated Kesar mangoes this year, streamlining exports directly from Ahmedabad.

Over five years, the Bavla unit has handled 805 metric tonnes, reducing spoilage and transport costs previously incurred when shipping to Mumbai.

The facility is USDAAPHIS certified and part of a broader export ecosystem that includes a pack house and perishable air cargo terminal.

The integrated export setup has improved shelf life and reduced wastage, benefiting over 75,000 mango farmers across the state.
