Andhra Pradesh has entered into a historic agreement with Google to establish the largest hyperscale AI and data centre complex in Asia at Visakhapatnam. With an investment nearing $10 billion (approximately ₹80,000 crore), Google’s 1 GW data centre will anchor “AI City Vizag,” marking a major milestone in India’s digital infrastructure growth.

The project spans three campuses in Vizag’s Tarluvada, Adavivaram, and Rambilli regions, covering 500 acres, and is expected to be operational by July 2028. It will provide a potent combination of AI processing, cloud computing, and advanced data analytics capabilities, supported by robust fibre-optic networks and clean energy integration.

The agreement was signed in New Delhi with participation from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and key Google executives.

The AI hub is projected to boost Andhra Pradesh’s annual GSDP by ₹10,518 crore and support nearly 1.88 lakh direct and indirect jobs annually during the initial five years.

Google’s investment will include the full AI stack deployment and support clean energy integration, aligning with India’s sustainability and digital ambitions.

The state government will facilitate the project via single-window clearances, renewable energy adoption, and plug-and-play industrial infrastructure.

Vizag’s emergence as “AI City” positions it as a strategic hub for AI-driven transformation and global digital economy participation.
