Signup requires a payment method for verification, but there are no charges for the first year.
Why This Move Matters
Google’s initiative follows similar global offerings (US, UK, Brazil, Japan, Indonesia) and coincides with OpenAI’s push to woo student communities worldwide.
According to a joint Google-Kantar study, 95% of Indian students who used Gemini reported increased confidence and better daily outcomes, while 75% of users seek regular AI support for education and personal growth.
The rollout reinforces India’s status as a priority market and signals the rising value of AI literacy for future careers, academic excellence, and creativity.
