In a bid to empower women, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has made a Rs 5,000 crore provision for the Lado Lakshmi Yojana as part of the state's 2025-26 budget. Under the scheme, eligible women will receive Rs 2,100 each month, meeting a major pre-poll pledge by the BJP. Though the eligibility norms are yet to be decided, the scheme will be aimed at women aged 18 years and above. A Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system of fund disbursement will be done by the government. The budget also suggests interest-free loans worth Rs 1 lakh for female farmers who have dairy farming, horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries as their occupation. This move is a part of a larger Rs 2.05 lakh crore budget that aims to make Haryana "future capable" and includes setting up a 'Department of Future' and an AI mission to educate youth on future technologies.
