International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez will travel to India from February 19-21, 2025, with an emphasis on green shipping growth. It is his first trip since becoming Secretary-General last year. Dominguez will talk about proposals for greater sustainability and reducing carbon in shipping activity with industry stakeholders and seafarers.
One of the highlights of his visit will be the 2025 Green Shipping Conclave at the Maritime Training Institute, Powai, Mumbai, where alternative fuels, green technology, and sustainable port operations will be part of the discussion. Dominguez underscored India's pivotal role in global shipping as a home to a vast number of the world's seafarers and a front runner in ship recycling innovations.
