India has crossed the 1 billion tonne mark in the production of coal for the FY 2024-25 as officially reported, a remarkable figure compared to the 997.83 million tonnes in FY 2023-24. This was celebrated as a "proud moment" by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as it reflects the determination of India towards energy self-reliance and security. Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy credited the achievement to cutting-edge technologies and effective mining methods.
