India is on the brink of transforming its aviation scene with an exciting new vision to create global hub airports throughout the country, as shared by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu. This ambitious plan was revealed just before important industry summits and the Prime Minister’s keynote at the upcoming Air Transport Summit (WATS) in Delhi. The goal is to establish a self-sufficient international flight network that links Indian cities to destinations around the world.

•⁠  ⁠Multiple Hub Airports: The government’s approach includes developing several hub airports across the nation, not only in Delhi but also in major metropolitan areas and emerging cities, to build a strong and resilient international network.
 
•⁠  ⁠Infrastructure Expansion: Two significant projects, the Noida and Navi Mumbai airports, are close to completion, with plans to construct 50 new airports in the next five years and up to 200 more over the next two decades.
 
•⁠  ⁠Delhi as a Global Hub: In just two years, Delhi is set to emerge as a key international aviation hub, taking advantage of its strategic location to connect the East and West, while attracting global airlines and investments.
 
•⁠  ⁠UDAN Scheme Revamp: The government plans to enhance the UDAN regional connectivity scheme by introducing water aerodromes and heliports, making it easier to reach remote and underserved areas.
 
•⁠  ⁠Sustainability and Innovation: India is dedicated to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), aiming for 1% blending in international flights by 2027 and 5% by 2030, with plans to produce 5 million tonnes of SAF in the coming years.
 
•⁠  ⁠Aircraft Manufacturing: There are initiatives to ramp up local manufacturing of aircraft parts, promoting self-reliance and job creation in the aviation industry.
