Kaynes Semicon has partnered with Japan’s AOI Electronics and Mitsui & Co. to enhance semiconductor packaging and secure critical material supply chains in India. These collaborations aim to strengthen India’s manufacturing capability, align with Make in India goals, and expand the nation’s role in global chip production.
In a landmark move to strengthen India’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, Kaynes Semicon Private Limited, a subsidiary of Kaynes Technology India Limited, has announced strategic partnerships with two Japanese giants — AOI Electronics Co., Ltd. and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. These collaborations mark a major leap toward building a robust and self-reliant semiconductor value chain in India.
Driving Next-Gen Chip Manufacturing
Under its technology pact with AOI Electronics, Kaynes Semicon will leverage AOI’s global leadership in Advanced Packaging, Panel-Level Packaging, and Wafer-Level Redistribution Layer (RDL) solutions. The partnership will enable Kaynes to deliver high-end back-end semiconductor services for industries spanning automotive, consumer electronics, communications, and industrial applications.
Commenting on the collaboration, Raghu Panicker, CEO of Kaynes Semicon, said the AOI alliance would significantly enhance India’s capability to serve the global semiconductor value chain with world-class backend technologies.
Securing Supply Chain Strength through Mitsui
Simultaneously, Kaynes Semicon inked a strategic supply chain agreement with Mitsui & Co., Ltd., one of Japan’s largest global trading houses. The tie-up ensures steady access to critical raw materials and chemicals, such as lead frames, molding compounds, die attach materials, and high-purity specialty gases — vital components for consistent chip production.
Officials noted that the Mitsui alliance will help mitigate global supply shocks and enhance resilience, reinforcing India’s semiconductor self-sufficiency goals.
