Despite being known as India’s tech capital, Bengaluru is no longer the preferred destination for large data centres. Cities like Mumbai and Chennai dominate the market, collectively accounting for 81% of India’s data centre capacity due to their robust infrastructure, reliable power supply, and proximity to undersea cable landing stations. Tier-II cities like Ahmedabad, Kochi, and Lucknow are also gaining traction for cost-efficiency and regional data consumption growth. Bengaluru faces challenges such as high real estate costs and infrastructure bottlenecks, making it less competitive in this rapidly growing sector.
