Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given a path-breaking order that will help to simplify the disposal of undisputed inheritance cases. In a meeting with top revenue officials, the Chief Minister directed that all such cases should be disposed of within 15 working days. The decision is a part of an overall effort to improve transparency, public faith, and efficiency in the state revenue administration.

The government of Uttar Pradesh, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is accelerating efforts to make land and inheritance procedures more citizen-centric and transparent. By imposing a tough 15-day timeline for uncontested inheritance cases, the state hopes to minimize bureaucratic delays and deliver justice on time to its citizens. The order is supported by a chain of reforms aimed at digitisation, automation, and better service delivery in the revenue department.

Wide Revenue Reforms
Accelerating digitization of land records with the topping-up of data relating to urban areas on the portal was recommended.
A user-friendly re-design of the Revenue Council portal and creation of an integrated dashboard (from Lekhpal to Commissioner) was instructed for improved monitoring and public good.
There was focus on complete automation of transfer cases so that justice is delivered in time and citizens are simplified.
Transparency and Accountability
The CM also emphasized a people-focused, technology-enabled, and responsible work culture in the revenue department.
Land-use information will be shown in 'khatauni' (records of landholdings), and the land-use change procedure under Section 80 will be made easier for enhanced clarity.
Other Steps
Pending cases for all of 'khatauni', Aadhaar seeding, farmer registry, measurements, and 'khasra' (plot information) investigations must be cleared within the stipulated time period, with additional manpower being deployed as necessary.
The department was appreciated for giving more than 36 lakh caste, residence, and income certificates during the previous year, out of which 85% were online processed in just seven working days.
The officials were directed to further improve service delivery for improved effectiveness and transparency.
Welfare and Disaster Response
The CM appreciated the department's quick response during natural calamities, reporting that more than 3.5 lakh affected families were given assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer in 2023-24.
He also directed the entire disposal of all pending applications under the Mukhyamantri Krishak Accident Welfare Scheme in the next 10 working days.
