The Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)] is planning a large convention in May, similar to the one organized by Congress in Hassan. A preliminary meeting to discuss the convention's details will be chaired by Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru on March 6. The party is considering holding the convention in Mandya, Mysuru, or Tumakuru. Sources suggest that Youth JD(S) head Nikhil Kumaraswamy may be announced as the state president of the party at the convention. Internal elections are underway at the taluk and district levels to elect office-bearers before the party president is elected.
