Adani Defence & Aerospace and Brazil’s Embraer have signed a landmark MoU to establish India’s first commercial aircraft assembly line. This collaboration strengthens the Make in India initiative, promises job creation, and positions India as a regional aviation hub amid surging demand for mid-sized aircraft.
Adani Defence & Aerospace has partnered with Embraer, the world’s third-largest planemaker, to set up a final assembly line for commercial aircraft in India.
The deal was signed on January 27, 2026, in New Delhi, with Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu present.
India’s civil aviation market is projected to need at least 500 aircraft in the 80–146 seat range over the next 20 years, making this collaboration strategically vital.
Embraer’s E-Jet family (E175, E195-E2) will be central to the partnership, offering fuel efficiency, sustainability, and right-sized capacity for regional connectivity.
The initiative is expected to create thousands of skilled jobs, bring advanced aerospace technology to India, and boost domestic manufacturing under the Make in India program.
This marks a historic milestone as India transitions from being one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets to a manufacturing hub for regional aircraft.
