In an open-ended interview on his recent film The Diplomat, Bollywood star John Abraham spoke openly of his political neutrality, bringing out the high priority of providing employment opportunities for the youth of India. Reviewing the state of the nation, Abraham revealed, "I have no political or religious tilt. Just put a job on the table—that's what this country needs." He brought forward the fact that creating jobs for young people would put their energies to positive use.
Portraying JP Singh, a dogged diplomat in the intense real-life drama helmed by Shivam Nair, Abraham has termed the role as life-changing. He has lauded the script of the film and wished for its National Award nomination, deeming it to be one of the best performances in his career.
Abraham also referred to India's increased confidence in the world, citing economic self-reliance and stability in government. Although conceding to flaws in the system, he called for positive discourse rather than hollow rhetoric.
As The Diplomat received positive reviews, Abraham made a hint that his career would now be geared toward serious cinema that finds appreciation among people and critics alike.
