JSW Infrastructure Ltd., through its subsidiary JSW Jaigarh Port Ltd., has signed a concession agreement with Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL) to develop a 33.7-km railway corridor connecting Jaigarh Port to Digni station on the Konkan Railway network. The project, structured under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, will be executed by a joint venture company—Jaigarh Digni Rail Ltd. (JDRL)—with JSWJPL, KRCL, and the Maharashtra Maritime Board as stakeholders.
The ₹771 crore project is expected to handle 12 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of cargo and will involve the construction of 18 km of tunnels through the Sahyadri mountains. The rail link is designed to boost multimodal connectivity for Jaigarh Port, which currently handles 15 MTPA and is targeting 65 MTPA capacity by 2026.
