Knowledge Marine Engineering Works Ltd (KMEW) announced the signing of multiple high-value Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs. 1,560 crores with Mumbai Port Authority, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, and Maharashtra Maritime Board during India Maritime Week 2025. These agreements focus on comprehensive services including tug operations, shipbuilding, and repair, aligning with India’s green maritime vision.
At India Maritime Week 2025, held from October 27-31 in Mumbai, KMEW underscored its leadership in maritime innovation by formalizing strategic partnerships with key port authorities. The MoUs, valued at Rs. 1,560 crores, cover a wide range of services including chartering, manning, operation, maintenance, and technical management of various types of harbour tugs—conventional, battery-operated green tugs, dock tugs—as well as security patrol boats.
The partnerships also enable Maharashtra Maritime Board to expand its shipbuilding and repair facilities, marking a significant step towards sustainable and technologically advanced maritime infrastructure. These agreements reflect KMEW’s commitment to supporting India’s ambition to become a global maritime hub emphasizing safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
KMEW’s CEO, Mr. Sujay Kewalramani, stated that these MoUs are not merely commercial contracts but represent the company’s role in driving India’s green maritime transition.
