Krishana Phoschem Ltd. (KPL), a key player in India’s agrochemical sector and part of the Ostwal Group, has approved the establishment of a 500 TPD fertilizer plant and a 300 TPD sulphuric acid unit at its Meghnagar facility in Madhya Pradesh. The move is part of the company’s aggressive expansion strategy to meet rising domestic demand and reduce import dependency in the phosphatic fertilizer segment.
Key Highlights:
-
The new fertilizer unit will focus on Single Super Phosphate (SSP) and NPK complex fertilizers, vital for replenishing soil nutrients across India’s farmlands.
-
The 300 TPD sulphuric acid plant will support backward integration, ensuring steady supply of a critical raw material for fertilizer production.
-
This expansion builds on KPL’s existing capacity of 600 TPD Beneficiated Rock Phosphate, making it India’s only private producer using the flotation process.
-
The project is expected to boost revenue visibility, improve operating margins, and enhance supply chain efficiency.
-
KPL’s recent migration from the BSE SME platform to the Mainboard reflects growing investor confidence and operational maturity.
-
The company is also exploring import substitution opportunities, as India currently imports over 40% of its phosphatebased fertilizer needs.
Outlook:
With strong tailwinds from government subsidies, monsoondriven demand, and a push for selfreliance in agriinputs, Krishana Phoschem’s latest capex signals a bold bet on India’s rural growth engine. The project is slated to begin construction in FY2025–26.
