Venture capital giant Accel has accelerated its seed-stage investment in Indian and Indian-origin entrepreneurs with the launch of two new initiatives—Accel Atoms AI and Accel Atoms X—with up to $1 million of capital per firm. The initiative aims to drive innovation in artificial intelligence and deeptech, as well as support founders building globally from India or with Indian origins.
Key Highlights:
Dual Track Launch:
Atoms AI: Targeting startups constructing across the AI stack—from building blocks (small language models, robotics, and video data) to infrastructure (test tools, LLM security) and applications (AI agents, vertical solutions).
Atoms X: Examines "LeapTech" ventures—novel ideas or business models that incubate over a span of years and demand non-linear thinking, such as next-generation robotics or radical digital platforms.
Funding & Incentives:
The selected startup may be awarded up to $1 million in equity or convertible notes.
Over $5 million in benefits for Accel's global network partners like cloud credits, tools, and infrastructure.
Tailored mentorship, R&D networks, commercialisation workshops, and an active peer founder community.
Global Focus:
Accessible to Indian and Indian-origin business owners globally, in keeping with the global vision of Indian entrepreneurs right from the start.
Accel's founders emphasize the importance of cross-border support in helping founders access international markets and grow rapidly.
Program Impact:
Since 2021, Accel Atoms has backed over 40 early-stage startups, many now category leaders.
The initiative takes inspiration from Accel's track record of incubating unicorns like Flipkart, Myntra, and Freshworks.
Applications.
The new batches are now open with a specific emphasis on AI and deeptech and startups for India's "Bharat" (rural and Tier 2/3 markets).
"Indian and Indian-origin entrepreneurs are spearheading the world's AI tipping point. Through Atoms AI and X, we're supporting their dream on day zero with capital, mentorship, and a world-class ecosystem," said Prayank Swaroop, Accel Partner.
