As Bhumi Pednekar celebrates ten years in Bollywood, she takes a moment to reflect on the pivotal experiences and mentors that have shaped her remarkable journey—from a behind-the-scenes casting professional to one of the most versatile actresses in Hindi cinema. In a heartfelt interview, Bhumi reminisced about treasured moments with Shah Rukh Khan and the invaluable advice she received from Akshay Kumar, both of which have profoundly influenced her career.

After the success of her debut film, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bhumi recalled a memorable evening at Shah Rukh Khan’s home. “Shah Rukh sir invited me over. He personally welcomed me, spent time with us, and even drove us back. He didn’t leave until we were out of the gate. That’s just who he is—so gracious and lovely,” she shared, still in awe of the superstar’s kindness and humility.

Equally unforgettable was the wisdom from Akshay Kumar, with whom she starred in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. “He told me, ‘Beta, just keep working. Don’t overthink,’” Bhumi revealed, attributing Akshay’s straightforward advice as a key factor in keeping her grounded in such an unpredictable industry. His mantra to focus on the work and not get lost in overthinking has become her guiding light.

Bhumi, who recently appeared in Netflix’s The Royals and is preparing for Daldal, also offered some practical tips for aspiring actors: “If you want to act in Hindi films, you need to know Hindi. That’s the bare minimum. Practice your lines, watch films. Don’t show up unprepared.” Her journey is a powerful testament to resilience, humility, and the impact of mentorship.
