Central Railway (CR) will revolutionize daily travel with its groundbreaking 'Lucky Yatri Yojana'. Unveiling next week, the 8-week campaign awards ₹10,000 worth of prizes daily and a weekly jackpot of ₹50,000 to lucky passengers on suburban trains in Mumbai.
Designed to discourage ticketless travel and reward genuine passengers, the scheme is applicable to all classes and types of tickets. Ticket examiners will pick winners randomly at stations, with prizes being given on the spot after verification.
CR's Chief PRO, Swapnil Nila, highlighted the scheme's objective of promoting ticket buying among the 40 lakh daily commuters. Entirely sponsored by FCB Interface Communication Pvt Ltd, the lottery is free of cost to commuters.
The move has generated enthusiasm among frequent commuters, who see it as a welcome move over fare increases. Authorities expect this incentive-based strategy to cut the estimated 20% ticketless travel rate by a large margin.
