Madhya Bharat Agro Products Ltd. (MBAPL), a key player in India’s phosphatic fertilizer sector and part of the Ostwal Group, has greenlit the setup of a 1,000 TPD Single Super Phosphate (SSP) and Granulated SSP (GSSP) plant in Maharashtra. The move is part of the company’s broader ₹550 crore capex plan aimed at strengthening its manufacturing footprint and reducing dependency on imports.
Key Highlights:
-
The new plant will produce SSP and GSSP, essential for replenishing phosphorus in Indian soils, especially in rainfed regions.
-
MBAPL has already executed a lease for 178,200 sq. m. of industrial land in Maharashtra, with construction expected to begin in FY2025–26.
-
This facility complements the company’s existing operations in Madhya Pradesh and aligns with its strategy to expand closer to highdemand agri belts.
-
The project is part of a larger expansion that includes a 1,000 TPD DAP/NPK plant and a matching phosphoric acid unit, also being developed in Maharashtra.
-
MBAPL’s backward integration model—producing its own sulphuric acid and beneficiated rock phosphate—is expected to improve margins and ensure raw material security.
-
The company recently reported FY25 revenue of ₹1,059 crore and a net profit of ₹57 crore, reflecting strong operational momentum.
Outlook:
With this expansion, MBAPL is positioning itself as a key enabler of India’s fertilizer selfreliance push. The Maharashtra plant will not only boost capacity but also improve logistics and market access across western and southern India.
