Meta Platforms has rolled out Llama 4, the newest member of its open-source Al model suite, which marks a grand advancement in the battle for Al supremacy. Rolled out on April 5, the offering includes two entry-level models, Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick, which will bring cutting-edge multimodal features to users. These models smoothly combine text, images, video, and audio information to make possibilities realized on platforms such as WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.
Llama 4 Scout has miniature efficiency, while Maverick has state-of-the-art performance on par with top Al systems. Meta also hinted at the forthcoming Llama 4 Behemoth -a revolutionary model with unparalleled reasoning capabilities -under development. CEO Mark Zuckerberg stressed the open-source nature of Meta's Al innovation, with these models marking a turning point in bringing high-level Al to everyone.
The launch arrives amidst stiff competition with DeepSeek and OpenAl, which is forcing Meta to spend up to $65 billion this year on Al infrastructure. While the world's developers eagerly await tapping Llama 4's possibilities, EU-based consumers are under limitations due to regulatory issues. Meta will announce further details in its first-ever LlamaCon event on April 29.
