In a historic session, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and India's Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh met in New Delhi to talk about the future of health innovation and biotechnology in India. The session focused on tapping India's thriving biotech startup culture, which currently has more than 10,000 startups, to combat global health issues. Gates and Singh had also discussed prospecting for Indian biotech startup direct investments within Gift City, a financial ecosystem aimed at the foreign investment inducement. Both leaders also had deliberations in regard to partnership opportunities between India and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that would further enable biotech as well as vaccine innovation.
