Mumbai will emerge as a world creative center with the setting up of the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) along the lines of the elite IITs. The institute will be housed at Film City, Goregaon, and will be provided with a grant of ₹400 crore by the central government. IICT will focus on imparting cutting-edge training and research in digital content, VFX, animation, AI-based storytelling, and Web 3.0 technologies. This project is a part of a larger drive to boost India's creative economy, especially in the media and entertainment industry. The IICT will be a premier hub for innovation in creative technology, putting India on the global map. The announcement comes at a time when Mumbai is hosting the World Audio-Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES 2025) between May 1 and 4, which is likely to draw international participation and investments.
