As a step to diversify its media business, New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV) has acquired a new business division named 'NDTV Alive', aimed at tapping India's growing live events and experiential entertainment opportunity.
The new vertical will operate in:
-
Large-format public events
-
Ticketed experiences
-
Immersive storytelling platforms
NDTV Alive aims to bridge the content and community gap by offering audiences edited, real-life experiences beyond television broadcast. The initiative is in sync with India's rapidly evolving media viewing culture, where interactive, relevant events are much sought after—especially in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns.
To lead this sweeping initiative, NDTV has appointed Rahul Kumar Shaw as Chief Experience Officer. With over 30 years of experience as a television, radio, live events, and brand activations leader, Shaw has the onus of creating flagship IPs and experiential formats that balance creativity with commercial strength.
The company expects NDTV Alive to be a major revenue generator by tapping into a market that is estimated to grow at 19% CAGR, with the organized events market likely to grow beyond ₹202 billion by 2027.
