Oil India Ltd has confirmed that force majeure has been lifted on its Area 1 offshore block in the Rovuma Basin, Mozambique. The declaration had been in place due to regional security concerns, halting progress on one of the company’s most strategic international ventures. With conditions now stabilizing, the consortium—led by TotalEnergies and including Oil India—can resume development activities.
The Area 1 block is a major liquefied natural gas (LNG) asset, with estimated reserves exceeding 75 trillion cubic feet. Oil India holds a participating interest through its subsidiary, and the revival of operations is expected to enhance its global energy footprint and long-term revenue prospects.
