India has set a new world standard in the war against terrorism by coupling precise military intervention with an unstinting commitment to peace. This view was expressed by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar at the inauguration of the Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Memorial Library in Jaipur, marking the country's recent successes and its changing strategy against terrorism.
Operation Sindoor: A Turning Point
India initiated Operation Sindoor as a direct retaliation to the Pahalgam terror strike in which 26 innocents were killed.
The operation consisted of targeted airstrikes against terror network along international borders, targeting outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
For the first time, such cross-border operations were carried out without being met with calls for evidence from the international community, marking global confidence in the actions of India.
International Recognition and Military Strength
Vice President Dhankhar saluted the Indian armed forces' bravery and mentioned the international acclaim for sophisticated Indian missile systems, including BrahMos and Akash.
India's actions have given a strong message globally: terrorism will not be accepted, and firm action will be taken against it.
Policy Shifts and Strategic Decisions
India has cautioned that a future terror attack will be treated as an act of war and will evoke a stern, prompt response.
The government indicated that it would no longer distinguish between state sponsors of terror and the perpetrators themselves.
India's temporary suspension of the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan was termed as a historic and unprecedented move, indicating that normalcy will not return until the security situation is improved.
Global Impact and New Normal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that Operation Sindoor has set a "new normal" in India's counterterrorism policy: there will be a proportionate and firm response to any attack.
The world has seen the determination of India, and proof positive of its state-sponsored terrorism has emerged during recent operations.
India's strategy is now being viewed as an example for other countries threatened similarly, and effective policy-setting around the world now has a new benchmark in precision.
