Key highlights

Over 9 crore Indian farmers are set to receive the much-anticipated ₹2,000 payout as part of the 17th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Initiated to provide direct income support, PM-KISAN continues to empower agricultural households nationwide—provided you’re registered and eligible.

Installment Release & Government Commitment

The 17th installment was officially released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 18, 2024, during an event in Varanasi, disbursing over ₹21,000 crore to a broad base of eligible farmers. This reaffirmed the government’s commitment to farmer welfare, marking PM Modi’s first policy action following his recent re-election.

The initiative reaches more than 9.26 crore farmers, ensuring timely support for agricultural needs as the kharif season begins.

Registration and eKYC: Ensuring Continued Eligibility

Farmers must have a valid registration with the PM-KISAN portal. Enrollment requires submitting Aadhaar-linked details, land records, and bank information to your local agriculture office or through the official website (pmkisan.gov.in).

eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) is mandatory for all registered beneficiaries. OTP and biometric authentication options are available online and at Common Service Centres (CSCs) nationwide.

How to Check Your Beneficiary Status

Visit the official PM-KISAN portal (pmkisan.gov.in).

Go to the ‘Farmer’s Corner’, select ‘Beneficiary Status’, and enter your registration number or mobile/Aadhaar number.

Submit the OTP received on your registered number to view your status and the history of past installments.

Common Reasons for Application Rejection

Mismatched personal details (especially Aadhaar and bank names)

Incomplete land ownership documentation

Inadequate eKYC completion

Family members already receiving benefits under the scheme

What to Do if You’re Not Registered or Face Issues

New farmers can apply anytime through the PM-KISAN portal or local agriculture offices.

If your application is rejected, use the same channel to correct errors, upload missing documents, and re-validate your information.

Looking Ahead

With the PM-KISAN scheme evolving and the 18th and 19th installments already scheduled for future release cycles, eligible farmers should stay updated, maintain current records, and complete mandatory eKYC well before each due date to ensure uninterrupted financial support.
