PM Modi Strengthens India-Trinidad & Tobago Ties: Gifts 2,000 Laptops and Signs 6 MoUs

During his historic visit to Trinidad and Tobago—the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 25 years—PM Narendra Modi cemented bilateral relations by giving 2,000 laptops to Trinidad and Tobago children and signing six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in a variety of areas from digital technology to energy and education.

The computers are meant to empower the youth and help the country fulfill its vision of being a virtual hub of the Americas, expanding access to education and technology.
 
The six MoUs are for cooperation in the field of renewable energy, telemedicine, biotechnology, disaster management, and modernization of public services, including India's UPI digital payment system adoption.
 
PM Modi received Trinidad and Tobago's highest civilian honor, 'The Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago', for his global leadership and strong bond with the Indian diaspora.
 
The visit was a new South-South cooperation, which highlighted common history, cultural ties, and future cooperation.
 
The two presidents emphasized ongoing support for security, health resilience, and cultural heritage programs, including scholarships and academic exchanges.
