Power Mech Projects Ltd (PMPL) has won a huge order valued at 1.65 billion rupees from Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) to build a nuclear power plant. It is the first major venture of PMPL into the highly important nuclear power segment, indicative of the company's increasing capability.
The contract includes civil, structural, and architectural activities for the 2x700 MWe PHWR Kaiga Atomic Power Project (Units 5 and 6) in Karnataka, including the turbine island package. It includes building the turbine generator building, equipment foundations, and auxiliary structures.
PMPL Chairman and Managing Director Sajja Kishore Babu highlighted the significance of the project, which, he said, opens up new avenues for nuclear power as well as helps meet India's sustainable energy requirements. The duration of the contract will be 32 months, with a 12-month warranty period.
The order comes on the heels of PMPL's recent achievements in bagging other large orders from BHEL, reflecting the robust relationship between the two firms.
