Prime Focus Unveils Rs 3,000 Crore Plan for Mumbai’s Next-Gen Film City

Prime Focus has announced a massive Rs 3,000 crore investment to develop a state-of-the-art film city in Mumbai, marking a significant milestone for India’s entertainment industry. The 200-acre facility, unveiled at the WAVES 2025 event, is set to become a global hub for media, production, and tourism.  

The project, backed by the Maharashtra government, aims to create an integrated ecosystem for filmmakers, content creators, and entertainment professionals. It will feature high-tech production studios, live entertainment venues, theme parks, and leisure spaces, positioning Mumbai as a leading destination for film and digital content.  

Prime Focus, founded by Namit Malhotra, is known for its contributions to the global entertainment industry, including its award-winning visual effects firm DNEG and AI-driven technology company BRAHMA. The new film city will further strengthen India’s presence in international filmmaking, offering cutting-edge infrastructure and employment opportunities for thousands of professionals.  

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed the initiative, emphasizing its role in boosting the state’s economy and reinforcing Mumbai’s status as a filmmaking powerhouse. The project is expected to generate up to 2,500 jobs and attract global investors, content creators, and tourists.  

With groundbreaking scheduled for later this year, Prime Focus is set to redefine India’s entertainment landscape, blending innovation, heritage, and world-class production capabilities.
