PTC Industries Ltd. has received a prestigious purchase order from DRDO’s Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) for post-cast operations of single crystal ‘ready-to-fit’ turbine blades. This marks a significant milestone in India’s aerospace manufacturing, reinforcing the country’s push for indigenous defence capabilities under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
PTC Industries Ltd. has announced a major breakthrough in India’s defence manufacturing sector with the receipt of a purchase order from the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), a division of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The order pertains to post-cast operations for single crystal ‘ready-to-fit’ turbine blades—critical components used in advanced aero engines.
The announcement was made during the Lokarpan ceremony of PTC’s Titanium & Superalloys Materials Plant at its Strategic Materials Technology Complex (SMTC) in Lucknow. The event was graced by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, underscoring the strategic importance of the development.
Key Highlights:
Scope of Work: The order includes high-precision post-cast operations such as machining, grinding, brazing, vacuum heat treatment, thermal barrier coating, and powder vapour deposition.
Strategic Significance: This is the first time an Indian company has been entrusted with such advanced aerospace-grade manufacturing, marking a leap in domestic capability.
National Impact: The project aligns with India’s “Make in India” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” missions, aiming to reduce reliance on foreign defence imports.
Facility Readiness: PTC’s SMTC facility is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure to handle complex metallurgical and engineering tasks, positioning it as a key player in India’s defence supply chain.
