Rahane Reigns: Knight Riders Choose Experience Over Youth

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has named Ajinkya Rahane as captain of IPL 2025, with Venkatesh Iyer as his deputy. This move was based on Rahane's extensive experience and maturity, which KKR feels are essential for managing the high-pressure IPL. KKR CEO Venky Mysore says captaincy can be demanding on young players, and Rahane's leadership qualities make him the perfect candidate. Although Venkatesh Iyer was eager to captain, KKR chose Rahane's experienced hand citing his experience of captaining India and other IPL sides. This move is intended to take advantage of Rahane's leadership while developing Venkatesh Iyer for future assignments.
