Delhi is bracing for another round of dramatic weather as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds expected to sweep across the city in the next 2–3 hours. This comes on the heels of Sunday’s intense dust storm and downpour, which disrupted normal life and led to significant flight diversions at the capital’s airport.

Key Highlights:

IMD Alert: Light rain and thunderstorms, accompanied by strong winds reaching 40–50 kmph and gusts up to 60 kmph, are likely to hit Delhi in the next few hours. Residents should remain cautious, especially in open and low-lying areas.

Flight Disruptions: On Sunday, 14 Delhi-bound flights were diverted and several delayed as winds gusted up to 80 kmph, underscoring the severity of the weather.

Temperature Drop: Monday morning saw a minimum temperature of 22.6°C, which is 4.3 degrees below the seasonal average. The maximum is expected to touch 37°C, still below normal for this time of year.

Air Quality & Humidity: Humidity levels stood at 67% in the morning, with the city’s Air Quality Index at 165, categorized as ‘moderate’ by the CPCB.

Forecast Ahead: IMD predicts similar weather patterns, including rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds, to persist through June 4, offering some relief from the summer heat but also potential for further disruptions.
